Natural infrastructures to adapt to global changes
In the current context of the urgency of the climate and biodiversity crises, it will be necessary to strengthen our efforts to safeguard nature and preserve the integrity of our natural capital. However, there is currently a fundamental imbalance between the use of natural environments - including the hydrographic network and aquatic ecosystems - and the value of their contribution to the well-being of human societies. These natural environments, and the ecosystem services they provide, are essential to the quality of life of communities and the economy. From this perspective, the protection and deployment of natural infrastructures are the most promising avenues for combating and adapting to global changes, and for ensuring the prosperity of human, economic and natural systems.
