CentrEau Lunch & Learn: Economic value of water

Don't miss this first midi-conference at the Université de Sherbrooke!

Conference on the Economic Value of Water Quality: Non-market valuation methods.

Speaker: Jie He, Professor, School of Management, Université de Sherbrooke.

Although water remains a natural resource essential for the survival of humanity, the consideration of its value in our society presents some confusion. This conference aims to present the interpretation of the value of water quality according to the economic logic based on the theory of utility. Several methods for assessing the economic value of water quality will be illustrated with case studies conducted in Quebec, Canada and elsewhere in the world. A more general discussion will also be held on the role that this notion of economic value can play in decision-making processes in the management and preservation of this increasingly scarce resource.

In collaboration with the Groupe de recherche sur l'eau de l'Université de Sherbrooke (GREAUS)
