CentrEau Hebd'eau | Modelling and integrated water resources management

43th webinar of the Hebd'Eau series entitled "Modelling and integrated water resources management "

Speaker: Prof. Elmira Hassanzadeh, Polytechnique Montréal

Language : French, with slide show in English

Summary: Climate change has the potential to significantly alter socio-economic activities and environmental conditions in Canada. A better understanding of the future climate is needed to propose reliable adaptation strategies. Climate models are the most advanced tools for simulating climate conditions; therefore, their behaviour is important for assessing the extent of climate change impacts in Canadian regions. New climate models from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) have recently become available. In this webinar, simulations of the CMIP6 models and their predecessors (CMIP5) are compared over the baseline and future periods. Examples will be given for variables that affect agricultural production, infrastructure sustainability, and environmental health in Canada.

New series of weekly CentrEau webinars "all about water management". These short 20-minute presentations will be offered live every Thursday at 1 p.m. followed by a short discussion period. CentrEau professors and researchers, as well as guest speakers, will present their research work and its importance in a semi-popularized manner. Watch the previous webinars on our YouTube Channel.
