Willows to treat water from landfills

Professor Yves Comeau is working on a first in Canada: using trees for leachate treatment.

This phytotechnology has just been installed in Sainte-Sophie, near Saint-Jérôme in the Laurentians, where more than 100,000 willows were planted in a landfill. Polytechnique Montreal Professor Yves Comeau, CentrEau member, worked on the project. Willows also serve as a carbon sink.
