This work is carried out as part of a project to characterize regional groundwater resources in the Estrie region of Quebec (10,000 km2). This regional project will produce a significant amount of technical information on the region's groundwater resources. However, in order for this information to be used by local groundwater managers, it is necessary to "translate" it. This information transfer involves the production of sustainable management indicators that are intended to help define groundwater issues at the regional level and to identify areas where these issues are important and need to be addressed. to actions by different actors of the water. The purpose of the project is to support the management and protection of groundwater resources in relation to anthropogenic activities and the direct or indirect effect of climate change. The work will involve 1) the review of the principles related to sustainable management indicators, 2) the review of available hydrogeological data and the indicators that could be produced from these data, 3) the presentation of the results of the review of the principles and potential indicators for regional project collaborators and the Quebec Ministry of the Environment (MDDELCC) to select indicators of interest, and 4) production in the study area of indicators on the state of aquifers and stresses that they undergo. The project will also support the integration of the results of the regional project into the Watershed Management Plan (WBP) of the study area that have responsibility for water governance. The priorities and actions identified in the BDPs are then used to guide regional planning in particular by the Regional County Municipalities (RCMs).
